BLOG TOUR: Nothing But Trouble by Amy Andrews

https://amzn.to/2XWS0C7

For five years, PA Cecilia Morgan’s entire existence has revolved around playing “left tackle” to former NFL quarterback Wade Carter. She’s so good at her job, the man can’t even buy his own condoms! Well, today she’s giving the Worst-Boss-Ever her notice.

To say CC’s announcement was a bombshell is an insult to bombs. And horribly timed, with his publisher breathing down his neck. Not too many things defy Wade Carter. Well…except his mother. His PA. And the blinking cursor of doom.

Time to call an audible.

CC is gobsmacked. Three months in his small hometown—somewhere devoid of “female distractions,” he says—while he finishes his book, and he’ll cut her loose?! And he thinks a cowboy hat and dimpled smile and she’ll just say yes? Penalty flag.

Wade can’t believe CC and the council arranged busloads of single women to visit their dying town. She never gives up. But three Super Bowl rings prove he’s no quitter, either.

But then their fighting starts to feel a whole lot like foreplay. What’s a quarterback to do when he realizes he might be falling for his left tackle?

Time to throw a Hail Mary.

Oooh - this is a darn good book. It kind of knocked me for six as I’m ashamed to say that I’ve never heard of Amy Andrews before getting this book. Now I’m wondering how someone who writes such funny, romantic and absorbing stories managed to pass me by for so long.

This is the story of sexy ex-NFL quarterback, Wade Carter, and his long suffering PA, Cecelia ‘CC’ Morgan. They’ve spent 5 years in each other’s pockets with CC at Wade’s beck and call. But CC’s had enough. She’s now ready to live her own life again - planning to move to California once she’s worked her notice.

Wade manages to get CC to come to his home-town to help him write his book - and so starts the changes in both of them that lead to them falling in love. Or, perhaps more accurately, lead to the realisation that they might have been in love for a long, long time.

This is somewhat of a slow burn romance with enough goodies in there to keep you happy until we get to the real dirty stuff. It’s so cleverly written that just as Wade and CC don’t realise that they’re falling in love - neither does the reader. You know, as does the rest of the town, but you can’t pinpoint when or where it actually happened. It’s adorable and I loved every minute of their fall - and both of their massive fights against it! And Wade’s cluelessness about, well, everything is, well, everything! He’s hot and successful with women - but rubbish at love and maybe life, too! It made my heart go pitty pat! And how not to love CC? She’s relatable and sweet - and sometimes a snarky little madam. She’s 100% herself - and Wade loves her anyway. That made me happy.

The other thing that surprised me about this book was that it was hilarious! I laughed out loud on a number of occasions and that quick wittedness was in both the writing and the banter.

And speaking of banter - loved, loved, loved the supporting characters in the town. There are too many to mention but that group of sexy men - they’re all prime candidates to be taken down a peg or two by love. And Wyatt (Wade’s brother) and Jenny - bless their little hearts. We get some of Wyatt and Jenny’s love story in this book but I’d love to read more about what happens to them. Just so sweet. I even forgot my usual complaint of characters in the same story with the same first initial!

I can see the comparisons to Jill Shalvis, especially in terms of the strong friendships, likeable characters and swoon worthy romance included in the book. Ms Andrews also manages to build rich, vibrant worlds that are quirky and endearing without being cliched. I fell in love with the town of Credence and its residents. With every new character we meet, I was crossing my fingers for further books - partly so that those sexy, arrogant men could finally meet their matches, and so we could come back to this delightful town and its residents.

Amy Andrews is definitely one to watch and I cannot wait for the rest of this series. I’ve signed up to her newsletter, stalked her on social media and plan to buy up her backlist. If I devour her books even half as quickly as I did this one, I’ll be a happy camper. 5 stars and highly recommended.

AUTHOR BIO!

Amy is an Aussie author of hot contemporary romance who believes in multiple orgasms, mighty wangs and happily ever afters. She’s been penning them for over twenty years and has 70+ books to her name.

As well as unforgettable characters and great sex you’ll also be treated to some laughs and a dollop of quirk because Amy doesn’t seem to know how to write a book without a bit of both. You might also cry a little because there’s nothing she loves more than a laughy-criey book!

She also loves sunsets and rainbows, unicorns and mermaids, booze and travel. And her home that overlooks the ocean. She may also happen to believe she was a Roman goddess in her past life because it's the only thing that explains her adoration for all things Italy.
