I am obsessed with Carly Phillips. I am obsessed with the Knight Brothers series. And yet I was still confused how this story could be part of that series. Harper who? Matt who?

Ah right, they’re Em’s best friend and the town mechanic that we met in Take Me Down. I wasn’t expecting a story for them, even though there was definitely something brewing between the two. Although I’m not sure that this was the exact dynamic….but never mind that, onto the story.

Matt’s in love with Harper but can never let her know because of a promise he made. But he’s tired of being held to a promise made as a boy. Harper is in love with Matt but after years of being ignored, she’s ready to move on with her life. Cue frustration, lust and longing. My favourite kind of misery! And it couldn’t happen to a nicer pair!

Cue a perfectly timed auto-mechanical failure, an impromptu trip and a lack of available rooms, and we have an explosion of said lust and longing that’s been a long time coming. And yum, this got those butterflies in the tummy dancing for me. It was sweet and oh so cute but with a heavy dose of hot and sexy right alongside it. And titty fucking? Yes, please!

Carly Phillips’ writing continues to shine through, and although this is a short story (only 38 pages that’ll take you about half an hour to read) it still packs a punch and tells a decent story from beginning to end.

Definitely a bonus for those interested in the Knight series, or just Carly Phillips in general. I think it probably works as a standalone, too. A quick, cute and dirty story - what could be better? 5 stars.

I’ve recently been on a bit of a Carly Phillips binge and based on this book, I will continue to be on one for a while yet. This is the fourth book in the Knight Brothers series (after Take Me Again, Take the Bride and Take Me Down). It’s also a crossover with the Dare to Love series as Sienna is a Dare sibling. There are a few characters from past novels that appear in this book (most prominently Sebastian Knight, Ian Dare and Emily and Parker Knight) but having only read two of the previous Knight Brother books and none of the Dare to Love series, I can confidently say this book stands completely alone. But be prepared to want to read every. single. other book in both series’. This is going to be expensive!

You’d be forgiven for thinking that this book had lots of built-in, ready-to-go drama what with the slight age difference (just 7 years), the illicitness of their attraction and relationship, the surprise pregnancy and the back story of both Sienna and Ethan. And yet, it’s wonderfully angst free. There’s no ridiculous drama or soap-opera shenanigans which is so refreshing.

I do so love a grumpy hero - especially if he’s arrogant and used to getting his own way like Ethan is. Oh, and he has a bit of a past which makes him wary of women and attraction in general. The perfect set-up to be taken down a peg or two by a woman.

Sienna is the perfect woman for that task - especially since she’s not who we would necessarily expect to be up to the task. And that makes her even more perfect. She challenges Ethan and doesn’t let him get away with his nonsense, all the while letting him be his naturally grumpy self. This is not a tale of a woman changing a man - but of the man realising he can be himself around a woman which makes him more at ease.

Gah - I just loved this couple. As well as their interesting and layered personalities, we have their ‘oh-my-God’ sizzling chemistry. Sigh. When Ethan came to find Sienna at her apartment, I flat-out nearly fainted on the floor. Butterflies in the tummy kinda stuff right there.

What I think I like best about Carly Phillips books is the effortless writing that sucks you into that story until it’s where you want to live. I feel like I can read the story and suddenly the characters are in love. I wonder, much like the characters, when and how that happened, only to think back and see it playing out with every word I’ve read. It’s such a talent and part of the reason that I find myself returning to read Ms Phillips when I need to escape from the world for a while.

If you’ve not read anything else by Carly Philips, this is a good one to start with - but it will only be the start. This is a fun read with interesting characters and a sizzling chemistry - the perfect book to get lost in for a couple of hours. 5 stars.

I have recently started to read Carly Phillips and I’m wondering why I haven’t been doing so for longer. She writes such fun and vibrant characters and stories that are so quick and easy to read but leave you with that happy, warm feeling of a satisfying love story.

This is Parker’s story and Book 3 in the Knight Brothers series. I’ve read Book 2 (Take the Bride) but not Book 1 (Take Me Again). While the Knight siblings and their significant others from their own books do appear in this one, it’s very fleeting and this book definitely stands alone without having read the others in the series.

There’s something quite simple about this story and how Parker and Emily fall in love. And yet it works so well. Parker is a city boy who at first seems like a fish out of water in rural Colorado -and definitely seems like someone Emily has no desire to get to know better. Even if he is hot and makes her hot, too! Parker has no such qualms about getting to know Emily and he lets her know it. When they both finally allow the spark to be lit, it’s hot and heavy against that car and continues in that same, sexy way.

I liked both our main characters - even more so that neither were perfect and each had to admit and own up to their own mistakes and realise exactly what pushed each other’s buttons. It was nice to see characters who had that human side that everyone can relate to.

The love story is also nice in that it’s not simple but not over angsty, either. There’s enough of that ‘fear’ about whether our couple can make it work or not to keep those pages turning. And they turned pretty darn fast for me. I finished this book so quickly that I was surprised when I realised it was 300 pages. But it was such a satisfying read that I’m not complaining.

Carly Phillips gives us another enjoyable love story in a fresh and fast format. I’m really getting into her writing and the stories she tells and hoping to go back and read the first book in this series, and hopefully see Ethan get what’s coming to him - love - in the next book (Dare Me Tonight). 5 stars from me for this book.

When I first read the blurb for this book, I assumed it was going to be a wham-bam, caveman takes his woman, type of book. And while that would have been fine, it actually wasn’t much like that at all. It was more of a slow-burn. Well, a slow-burn with sex.

The story was a fairly simple second-chance romance with a twist on the circumstances of the reconciliation. Despite that, the writing really elevated the story to something special that made me keep those pages turning and turning. It’s a short story - just 125 pages - so you’ll devour it in no time at all.

Sierra was a likeable character and you could understand and sympathise with her plight and confusion over what to do. I mean, what would you do if you thought the love of your life was lost to you? You can sulk or move on with second best - even though you’ll always be aware he’s second best.

Ryder was absolutely delicious. Such a rugged, alpha man who’s determined to win back the heart of the girl he’s always loved. He just needed a boot up the bum for him to realise it’s now or never. And he’s going to make sure it’s now.

The sex was wonderful but it was actually more of the banter and intimacy that caught my attention and captured my heart. These two were made for each other which made this a sighworthy and swoonworthy romance.

This book is technically the second book in the Knight Brothers series but stands completely alone (and it does because I haven’t read the first book in the series, Take Me Again). Sebastian from that book does appear in this book - along with the other Knight brothers - but not with Ashley, although she is mentioned.

This was a fun taster of Carly Phillips’ books and it’s made me want to read more of the Knight Brothers series. She’s got me hooked with this quick, fun and happy romance. 5 stars.
