A boss-employee romance…with a twist.
Only three things stand between Ava Carmichael and her twelve billion dollar inheritance:
1. A year of living in Bliss, Kansas.
2. A relationship that lasts six consecutive months.
3. And pie.
Ava has run a multi-billion-dollar company, negotiated with shark investors, and hobnobbed with business royalty, but she’s about to be defeated by her inability to turn sugar, flour, and apple pie filling into something edible.
Conveniently, the owner of the diner next door, Parker Blake, is magic in the kitchen. And he technically works for her. So she can make him teach her to bake. And, hey, if everyone assumes they’re heating up more than the oven during their time in the kitchen…well, that’s called multitasking.
Parker Blake likes his women the way he likes his coffee: not in his diner. But gorgeous, strong-willed, type-A Ava clearly isn’t going to stop messing up his kitchen—or his simple, stress-free small town life—until the conditions of her daddy’s will are met. So, sure, he’ll teach his “boss” to bake.
But once the kitchen door closes, it’s pretty clear who’s really in charge.

It’s official - Erin Nicholas is my newest obsession.
That should be my review right there because everything I’m going to say from now on is just variations on a theme.
I loved this book. It felt like it took the sass of a Jill Shalvis novel and mixed it with the relationships of a Nora Roberts’ novel - and then added a sparkle that I’ve come to associate with Erin Nicholas all herself.
This is the second book in the Billionaires and Blue Jeans series. While you don’t really have to read the books in order (I personally have yet to read the first in the series, Diamonds and Dirt Roads - but will soon since I just bought it today), I honestly think you’d get a better handle on Bliss, the triplets, and their men/soon to be men if you read them in order. The next book, Cashmere and Camo, comes out in May 2018. Thank God - not sure I could wait much longer than that.
As well as the page-turning writing, I found that the book really captured the magic of two people falling in love. Ava and Parker were kindred spirits who were so similar yet so different. Their interactions - irritation to acceptance to sex to love - felt so real that I actually got that jumpy, happy feeling in my tummy. Beautiful!
Not only that but the book was laugh out loud funny. The scene about the rooster was bloody hilarious - I actually laughed out loud, had to stop reading and then relate it to the other folks in the room.
That happened a lot. You honestly feel like you know these characters. Like they are part of your own life and own world - or more like you are part of theirs. I had to stop myself from constantly asking my own friends and family if they’d heard about Ava and Parker’s shenanigans. Luckily, they already know I’m crazy so it wouldn’t have been too big of a deal if I had!
As I said, I’m full on obsessed with Ms Nicholas’ books and this one is no different. So far, I’ve found that her novels are full of sass, style and sexy times. Plus, her characters say ‘fuck’ a lot and that just makes my little ladylike heart go pitter pat. 5 stars.
